Details matter. Especially when it comes to compliance.
Barthco Trade Consultants was formed to provide importers and exporters with needed services above and beyond traditional customs brokerage and forwarding.
The needs of importers and exporters have grown significantly as the demands on international traders have escalated.
The responsibilities of importers and exporters in the United States have changed and expanded dramatically as a result of the Customs Modernization Act.
We are here to help you meet those needs and handle those responsibilities.
Barthco Integrity Program
Since 1975, Barthco International has been active in the cargo security profession in light of the fact that we are one of a small core group of recognized specialists in the transportation of high value and irreplaceable objects. While our previous expertise dealt with reduction of cargo theft risks, in September of 2001 we were, along with the rest of the partners in global trade, thrust into a new and expanded dimension of risk reduction.
Since we were already involved with cargo security legislation pre-September, we were in position to provide our expertise to our federal government post-September. Our involvement in the Border Security Advisory Group to the Commercial Operations Advisory Committee of the U.S. Treasury Department contributed to the formulation of enhanced security programs to maintain the level of logistics integrity that will facilitate safe global commerce while protecting our borders from terrorist attack.
By our involvement in many of the government's industry partnerships we recognized that many companies involved in international trade had not paid attention to issues related to logistics integrity. The Departments of Treasury, Commerce, State, Transportation, and Justice quickly realized that in order to protect our country from further attacks the entire global transportation system needed immediate security enhancement. Government soon realized that they needed a partnership with industry in order to reach their goals of secure borders.
Our Logistics Integrity team can assist global corporations in conducting supply chain risk analysis from point of origin through to ultimate destination. The team, under the direction of Mr. William Evans, a Senior Vice President at Barthco, is comprised of veteran logistics managers; retired federal investigators with distinguished careers at the U.S. Customs Service, Office of Investigations; and recognized legal counsel with expertise in international trade.
Our risk analysis can help in development of processes and procedures that follow the U.S. Customs - Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) guidelines. Participation in the C-TPAT program will benefit importers, exporters, transportation providers, warehousemen, manufacturers, customs brokers and forwarders involved in global logistics by enabling them to attain the most cost effective, efficient, and timely supply chain processes. U.S. Customs states that participation in the program will result in quicker cargo releases on arrival, and far fewer examinations of containerized cargo.
